Join Dr Martin Webb and Ms Neesha Pierce as they talk about item numbers, communication and present a range of case studies that will teach you how to stay out of hot water.

Presenter/s biography

Dr Martin Webb

BDSc (HONS) Qld, FICD, FPFA, FADI, MAICD

Dr Martin Webb is a dentist in private practice at Maleny, on the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast. He has held various positions within the dental profession, being the ADA Federal Vice President, ADAQ State President 2007, Chair of the ADAQ Audit and Risk Committee, and member of ADAQ Council 2001-2008 then 2014-2021. He has previously served on the ADA Inc Audit and Risk committee and the Dental Education and Training Committee, Chaired the ADA Nominations advisory panel, and has been the Vice Chair of the Scientific Committee for the FDI World Dental Congress 2021 in Sydney.

Dr Webb has served on the ADA Inc Schedule & Third-Party Committee since 2008. Within that Committee he has acted as the state “expert opinion leader” on the interpretation of the ADA Schedule by dentists, their staff and PHI’s. Dr Webb has liaised with dentists having difficulties with Medicare and DVA, including assisting them with audits. He also acts as the ADAQ PHI liaison officer, assisting members with PHI complaints and investigations. He has also been involved in providing expert opinion reports for medico legal cases involving dentists. As a member of the ADAQ Peer review panel, he provides advice to ADAQ staff working to assist members with AHPRA complaints and PI cases.

Dr Webb has conducted Lectures to the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, throughout Queensland on the fluoridation issue and more recently has been giving lectures to the ADAQ Practice Advantage group on health fund audits, item number issues, and dental fraud cases. He has assisted UQ as an external examiner for 5th Year dental student vivas and has 

Dr Webb is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry International and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. In 2016, he was awarded a Distinguished Service Award by the ADAQ, one of only 19 individuals in Queensland’s history to have been awarded this honour. 

Dr Webb has been part of the ADA Inc Infection Control committee for the last 3 years. He has been involved in infection control audits of dental practices since 2014 for AHPRA and OHO, and has also been helping dentists with infection control and clinical records audits for AHPRA.

 
 


Neesha Pierce
General Counsel, ADAQ

Neesha initially graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Psychology and Sociology) and then subsequently went on to study law, graduating from the University of Technology with a Bachelor of Laws in 1999 and a Master of Laws in 2009.  After graduating with her law degree Neesha initially worked as a dispute resolution lawyer in private practice before making the move in-house where she has worked in various roles, including most recently leading legal teams for large health and community care providers.    Neesha also has a wealth of experience managing risk and governance functions for healthcare providers and is also a board member of the Surveyors Board of Queensland where she regularly sits on its professional conduct review panels.  Having provided legal advice across a number of industries including the health and community services, Neesha brings a wealth of experience to assisting health practitioners to navigate the legal system.
