PRESENTER BIOGRAPHY

Dr Rakesh Jivan
BDS FPFA

I graduated from the University of Birmingham (UK) in 2000 and obtained my post-graduate Certificate in Restorative Dentistry from the Eastman Dental Institute, University College London in 2004. More recently I was inducted as a Fellow of the Pierre Fuchard Academy in 2021. I am a firm believer in lifelong learning and ethics in dentistry.

Having owned multi-chair private dental practices in the UK and Australia, I have over two decades of clinical and practice management experience. In addition to my daily clinical practice, I spent 10 years as a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) for 3M ESPE involved in lecturing, teaching and education.

In practice, I developed a special interest in endodontics, prosthodontics including CAD/CAM, patient communication and dental photography.

I now use these broad range of skills and experiences to develop educational programs for dental practitioners and in turn support dentists to develop their own clinical skills. I am involved in providing one to one mentoring and delivering face to face and online training in a variety of clinical topics including communication skills, record keeping and consent.

?I currently hold the position of Clinical Director for Education at Pacific Smiles Group responsible for practitioner support and continuing professional development for over 700 dental practitioners.

Outside of my work with Pacific Smiles, I have a passion for dental photography which started in 2000 when I introduced photography into my clinical practice. Since then, I have taken tens of thousands of clinical images and now teach others the benefits of photography in practice as part of my communication training course.

I’ve been a Queenslander since 2011 and live in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast with my wife Natasha who is a Clinical Psychologist, my three year old son Noah.
