Anterior and Posterior Composites: Perfecting Your Technique

Anterior and Posterior Composites: Perfecting Your Technique
This hands-on course is designed for Dentists.

Course Overview

In this very full, one-day lecture and hands-on course, Dr Mandikos will cover the options available for restoring anterior and posterior teeth with direct composite restorations.

The lecture content will address the relevant physical properties required of composites to be used for restoring anterior teeth aesthetically, and posterior teeth for longevity. Concepts of shade selection and layering will be introduced as well as the various techniques for finishing and polishing to achieve life-like anatomy and lustre.

With regards to posterior composites, the lecture will cover the main causes of post- operative sensitivity with posterior composites, and present techniques that can be predictably employed by the clinician to prevent it occurring. This will include a discussion on the role of self-etching dentine bonding systems, glass ionomers, flowable resins and the Bulk Fill materials.

During the hands-on exercises, attendees will then have the opportunity to practice composite placement in typodont teeth using the materials and techniques discussed. Emphasis will be on the multi-layered approach for anterior restorations and also on using techniques to create tight contacts and prevent post-operative sensitivity, marginal leakage, and white line formation around posterior restorations.
